  • Employer nomination

    An employer whose business is lawfully operating in Australia must lodge a nomination application for you before you apply. The employer must be an approved work sponsor or have lodged an application to become a standard business sponsor; its nomination must be approved before your visa can be granted.

  • Nominated salary

    For nominations lodged from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027, both the annual market salary rate and the worker’s guaranteed annual earnings must be at least AUD79,423. If the worker’s annual salary is less than AUD250,000, the employer must also show that it determined the annual market salary rate correctly and will not pay less than that rate. Non-monetary benefits do not count towards the income threshold.

    You must have been employed in the nominated occupation for at least three years on a full-time basis and at the skill level required for that occupation. Generally, the experience should have been gained within the last five years; it need not be continuous. Equivalent part-time work might be considered, but casual work is not considered.

    You must have a suitable assessment for the nominated occupation from the relevant assessing authority before lodging your application, unless an exemption applies. An assessment obtained for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) is not valid for this visa.

    You must be under 45 when you apply, unless an exemption applies.
