    If applying on the basis of a degree-level 7 or higher qualification, you must have studied it full-time for at least 30 weeks in New Zealand.

  • Conditions for a non-degree qualification

    If applying on the basis of a non-degree level 7 or lower qualification, it must be on the eligible qualifications list. You must have studied full-time in New Zealand for the full duration required to gain it, and the job you take must be related to what you studied.

  • Apply in time

    Apply no later than 3 months after your student visa expires. The page also allows 3 months from the end of a second student visa in its specified consecutive-study case, 6 months after student visa expiry for a doctoral degree, or 12 months after the first student visa expires in its specified immediately following, shorter higher-level study case.
