    The Ministry of Interior lists these categories as exempt from the general conditions: children of a Qatari woman married to a non-Qatari; the non-Qatari husband of a Qatari woman; the non-Qatari wife of a Qatari; children of a Qatari by naturalisation; people who have performed great services to Qatar; and people with special capabilities needed by Qatar.

How it works

  1. Get ready

    • Check your eligibility

      Use the Ministry of Interior’s Permanent Residency Eligibility Inquiry with your QID number and residence-permit expiry date.

      You’ll need: QID number, Residence-permit expiry date

    • Prepare your smart ID

      Have an e-services-activated smart ID and connect its reader to your computer.

      You’ll need: Smart ID card

  2. Apply

    • Open a new application

      On the Ministry of Interior website, choose Electronic Services, Residence Service, Permanent Residence Card and then New Application.

    • Select the eligible people

      Choose the appropriate category and select the eligible people shown by ID number.

    • Pay the application fee

      Pay the non-refundable QAR 3,000 fee by debit or credit card and save or print the payment receipt.

    • Upload the requested documents

      After receiving the message requesting attachments, return to the website and upload the documents specified by the committee for each person on the application.

    • Track your application

      Use the Ministry of Interior website’s permanent-residence application tracking service to check progress.

  3. Settle in

    • Pay for the card if approved

      If the application receives final approval, pay the QAR 3,000 card issuance fee.
