Advisor terms

These terms apply between you, as an advisor offering services on Japper, and Wonderlabs Limited. They sit alongside our terms of use and privacy notice. Members trust the verified badge; these terms are how we keep that trust.

1. Who can be an advisor

  • Immigration advice: you must be authorised by the regulator where you advise (for example the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants in Canada, the Immigration Advice Authority in the UK, the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority in Australia, the Immigration Advisers Authority in New Zealand, or a bar or law society).
  • Study counselling: you must have the qualifications and experience you tell us about, and follow the rules that apply to education agents where you work.
  • You must give us accurate details, your licence number and the name on the register, and keep them up to date.

2. Verification

Before you can take bookings, we check your licence against the public register where one exists, and may ask for documents or a call. We recheck licences regularly and when we have reason to. You must tell us within 2 working days if your licence is suspended, restricted, lapses or is subject to a complaint or investigation. The verified badge means we completed these checks; we may remove it if a check fails.

3. You’re independent

You provide your services to members yourself, as an independent professional. Nothing in these terms makes you Japper’s employee, partner or agent. You decide how to give your advice, within these terms and your professional rules, and you’re responsible for your own taxes and registrations.

4. How you work with members

  • Give advice within your licence and competence, honestly and in the member’s interest. Say so if a case needs someone else.
  • Never promise or guarantee an outcome (a visa, an admission or a job).
  • Never ask a member to pay you, or anyone else, outside Japper for a session booked on Japper, and never ask for visa or government fees in a chat. Japper will never ask you to pay for a visa in a chat.
  • Keep what members tell you confidential, and only use it to help them.
  • Turn up on time. If you must cancel, do it as early as you can through Japper.
  • Declare conflicts of interest, including commissions you may receive from schools or other providers you recommend.
  • Keep the records and professional indemnity insurance your regulator requires.

5. Prices, fees and payouts

  • You set your prices for the services you offer. Members see them before they book.
  • Members pay Japper when they book. Japper’s fee (a share of the session price) is shown in your advisor dashboard before you accept bookings, and deducted before payout. Member discounts are funded as shown in your dashboard.
  • We pay you through our payout providers (such as Stripe Connect or Paystack) once the session is completed, subject to their terms and verification.
  • If a member is refunded because you cancelled or didn’t attend, you aren’t paid for that session.
  • We may change our fee for future bookings with at least 30 days’ notice.

6. Reviews

Only members who completed a session with you can review you. You may not offer anything in return for a review, write reviews of yourself, or ask members to remove honest reviews. You can reply once to a review, politely. We may remove reviews that break our rules.

7. Members’ data

When a member shares their plan or documents with you, you receive personal data. You must handle it lawfully (under the data protection law that applies to you, such as the NDPA, GDPR, UK GDPR or DPDP), keep it secure, use it only to advise that member, and delete it when you no longer need it for that purpose or your professional records. Tell us at once if you think it has been exposed.

How Japper handles personal data is in our privacy notice.

8. Your profile

You’re responsible for what your profile says. It must be accurate and must not overstate your licence, experience or results. You give us permission to show your name, photo, profile and reviews on Japper and in our marketing of your services on Japper.

9. Responsibility

You’re responsible for the advice and services you give members, and you agree to cover Japper’s reasonable losses if a claim is brought against us because of your advice, a breach of these terms or of your professional rules. Japper provides the marketplace as it is, and isn’t responsible for members’ decisions or outcomes. Nothing here limits responsibility the law doesn’t allow to be limited.

10. Ending the agreement

You can stop offering services at any time; you must still complete, or cancel with a refund to the member, any sessions already booked. We may suspend or remove you if your licence can’t be verified, if you break these terms or your professional rules, or to protect members. Where we can, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

11. Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will give you notice of important changes before they apply. Questions: hello@japper.app.
