Disclaimer
Moving abroad is a big decision, and immigration rules are strict and change often. Here is exactly what you can and can’t rely on Japper for.
Information, not legal advice
Japper is an AI immigration assistant. It explains routes, requirements, costs and deadlines in general terms, from official sources. It doesn’t know everything about your situation, and it isn’t a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. Japper is not a law firm, does not represent anyone before a government, and nothing on Japper creates a lawyer–client or adviser–client relationship with Japper.
For advice on your own case (for example if you’ve had a refusal, have a criminal record, have overstayed a visa or have a complex family situation), speak to a licensed advisor. You can book one on Japper.
Where our facts come from
We take facts from official government and institution sources first, and other reputable sources where needed. Each fact shows its source and when we last checked it:
- Checked (“gov.uk · checked 3 days ago”): matched against the source within our checking window.
- Researched just now · being double-checked: found when someone asked, and still being verified.
- Last checked … · rechecking: older than our checking window; we’re checking it again.
- Sources disagree: official sources say different things; we show what each says.
- Reported, not yet confirmed: a change reported in the news that no official source has confirmed yet.
Governments can change rules at short notice, and sources can be wrong or out of date. Always confirm on the official page before you pay a fee, book a test or submit an application.
Jappy and other AI features
Jappy is Japper’s AI immigration assistant. It answers questions using what Japper knows and, when it doesn’t know, researches the question and says so. What you type to it is sent to OpenAI, our AI provider, only once you agree, which you do by sending your first message (see the privacy notice). AI can misunderstand a question or get a detail wrong, even with a source. Treat its answers as a starting point and check anything important.
Fit, matches and estimates
“Fit” compares your answers with a route’s published requirements, using fixed rules. Points scores use the published points systems where a country has one. Costs and timelines are estimates from published fees and typical ranges. None of these is a prediction of a decision: the government, university or employer decides, based on the full application.
No guarantees
Japper can’t guarantee that you will get a visa, a scholarship, an admission offer or a job, or that any opportunity is still open. Scholarships and jobs are listed as their organisers publish them; they may close early or change.
Independent advisors
Advisors on Japper are independent professionals, responsible for their own advice. We check licences against public registers where they exist and recheck them regularly, but we don’t supervise the advice itself. See the advisor terms.
Partner offers and other websites
Partner offers are labelled, and we may earn a fee if you use one. Links to universities, employers and governments take you to websites we don’t control; their terms and privacy notices apply there.
Staying safe from scams
- Japper will never ask you to pay for a visa in a chat.
- Pay visa fees only on the official government website or at an official visa centre.
- A genuine employer never asks you to pay for a job offer or a certificate of sponsorship.
- No one can buy you a visa, skip a queue or guarantee an approval.
- Be careful with anyone who contacts you first, rushes you, or asks for payment by gift card, crypto or personal transfer.
